Chairperson's Report 2008-2009

Pyramid Health and Social Care Association (PHASCA) is a registered charity established way back in 1999 by Lena Hartley and me, who were Health Service Workers from the NHS, in order to help the local community.

Over the last 10 years PHASCA has operated with the help of partners, volunteers, supporters and staff of many nationalities.

We are a successful advocate and provider of Counselling and Psychotherapy to members of the Community.

Through the last decade PHASCA has expanded to meet the needs of the local community offering music, art and dance along with the homework clubs. Parents have been offered support and been invited to learn English.

The Happy Opportunities project for over 50’s launched in 2006 has raised the ambitions and expanded the world view of its participants. This innovation has taken people back into their community with renewed energy.

The counselling service is well-used and is our pride and joy. PHASCA’s work is supporting the future generations who will feel the benefit of the therapeutic processes experienced by parents and children facilitated by our highly qualified staff. We work with children, teenagers and adults of many different communities and ethnicities. All have different problems and all have common problems – unemployment, isolation, illness both physical and mental.

We have made huge progress thanks to the professionalism and dedication of our staff and the devoted help of the many volunteers who give their time freely to help others. We are a respected name in the borough and regarded as important partners in working with people in the local community

We manage our money well and have built our capability so that we can continue to be involved with the welfare, support and well-being of local people across the board.

We are justly proud of our 10 year history. We have a big responsibility to make sure that our contribution is sustained and developed.

As an organisation we have ambitious plans to provide more and better services to the local people.

Our aim in the years ahead is to increase fundraising and create our own income streams through Social Enterprises.

Our success over the years is due to the work and commitment of staff, funders, donors, volunteers and partners, As Chair, may I say a big ‘thank you’ to all of you for helping to strengthen Phasca’s capacity to make a difference as we are completing our 10th year.
